Enabling Building Electrification Internship- Summer 2025

Position Description 

Advanced Energy United seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Policy Intern to join our Enabling Building Electrification (EBE) team for the Summer 2025 program. This role will help support the team’s mission to shape the future of clean, efficient electric homes and businesses, with a focus on qualitative research into wonky topics related to infrastructure planning, electric and gas utility regulatory reforms, affordability, and electrification market and policy opportunities.   

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research emerging legislative and regulatory topics, and evolving technologies and markets, in the U.S. and abroad
  • Develop accessible presentation and written materials to communicate research findings 
  • Monitor and summarize relevant hearings, stakeholder meetings, webinars, reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Join internal and external team, stakeholder, and coalition meetings, when relevant.
  • Assist in organizing and supporting educational events.

 

The intern must be located in the DC, MD, VA area for the summer, a commutable distance to our DC office.  A final project will be due from each intern and presented to the organization.

 

 

Required Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) 
Preferred Skills: Detail-oriented; intellectually curious; strong writer and communicator, interest in utility regulation/law, interest in advanced energy and/or public policy career

Dates:   June 16th to August 15th
Location: DC (Hybrid)
Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week   
Compensation: $18.00/hr
