
Administrative Assistant, Psychiatry Practice
Acheron Psychiatry is a group psychiatry practice in lower Manhattan offering comprehensive, holistic psychiatry, psychotherapy and neuropsychology services. We specialize in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, neurocognitive remediation therapy, and EMDR, and run mini-retreats. We have full-time therapists and train therapists who are on limited licenses and obtaining their clinical hours for full licensure. We are actively trying to grow the practice.
We are looking to hire a part- or full-time in-person administrative assistant working under a practice/operations manager and in collaboration with our marketing specialist. Project management skills would be advantageous. 24-40 hours weekly, compensated at a base rate of $25-30. There may be opportunities for incentive-based pay. We offer reasonable benefits including transportation, with the option of an HRA health plan.
The individual we would like to hire for this role has excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team model and take initiative. They are sensitive to and, within their administrative role, able to compassionately accommodate the needs of a vulnerable and diverse mental health patient population, while also managing tasks like billing. Specific responsibilities in a patient-facing role include:
- Screen potential patients who inquire about clinical services
- Accurately research benefits and eligibility
- Schedule patients
- Administer clinical intake forms
- Understand our clinical services and effectively describe them to patients and referral sources
- Understand how to bill patients for our services
- Payment collection
- Produce invoices and superbills
Non-patient facing responsibilities:
- Work in close coordination with our marketing specialist under her direction and to share in marketing tasks
- Help to create new clinical programs

Education and Experience:
-Minimum Bachelor of Arts (BA/BS) degree, ideal if with a healthcare-related focus
-Minimum 2 years prior work experience in healthcare, preferably mental healthcare
-Ideal for individuals interested in a career in innovative mental healthcare
-Able to provide 2 professional references
-Experience working with adults with mental health conditions
-Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (Charm EHR preferred)
