Guest Services / Food Handler - Summer Job
Seeking Summer 2025 Hires!
The producers of 3Below Theaters (the movie theater located at the corner of 2nd and San Carlos, adjacent to San Jose State University) are looking for friendly, energetic, and caring individuals to join the team.
Role:
Guest Services / Food Handler
Ideal candidates will have:
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Outstanding Customer Service Skills
- Ability to Follow Direction/Attention to Detail
- Comfortable with technology - all systems at 3Below are computer or web-based requiring basic knowledge of system operation once trained
All team members are cross-trained to perform the many varying functions of operating a performing arts venue with multiple events, multiple theaters, and small cafe
What most people like about working at 3Below is that there are lots of tasks to complete during a shift so you will likely being doing something different every time you're at work. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- personable customer service
- being knowledgeable in event schedule and descriptions
- operating Cafe and Box Office systems (taking orders, making change, processing cash and credit card purchase)
- pouring and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- prepping and cooking hot dogs, and other finger foods
- cleaning machines
- sweeping, wiping down tables, emptying garbage cans
- moving inventory from store room to prep area
- following procedures/rules/standards as presented by Manager
- proofreading the website
- creating calendar listings online for our events
- making guest goodie bags for special events
- assisting event coordinators for special events
Food Handler Certificate required (certificate is obtained after taking a rather simple 2-hr online course to understand food handling safety.)
All personnel participate in Guest Services/Guest Comfort:
- customer service
- answer questions
- tidying lobby (straightening tables and chairs)
- tidying the restrooms (pick up loose paper from floor, restock paper products as needed - janitorial does heavy duty cleaning)
- sweeping popcorn in theaters as needed after each event
- putting cups and popcorn tubs and other guest trash in the receptacles
- emptying garbages as they get full
